Scholarships

The Sand Fork Alumni may award one or more scholarships to eligible Gilmer County High School seniors, or a continuing college student, who has attended Sand Fork Elementary.  Scholarship recipients are selected by a Scholarship committee of the Alumni Association.

 


Scholarship Application Guidelines

Scholarship applications must be completed and delivered to the chairperson by April 10 of each year.  The School guidance counselor will have the chairperson’s name and address.

Scholarship/s will be awarded to a graduating senior/s of Gilmer County High School, or a continuing college student/s who plan to further their education at a two or four year college or university.

The scholarship recipient must apply the scholarship toward his/her college expenses.

The scholarship applicant must have attended Sand Fork Elementary.

The applicant should have a grade point average of 3.0 or better.

The selection criteria shall be based on the seriousness of the applicant and his/her intention to remain in college for a four year degree or a two year associate arts degree. Other criteria shall include personal need, school records, and school and community activities.

The selection committee shall consist of Sand Fork Alumni members appointed by the president of the Alumni Association. The committee may change the requirements from time to time, if needed.

The announcement of the scholarship recipient/s shall be made at the Gilmer County High School assembly or commencement.
