Nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, in rural Gilmer County, West Virginia, Troy Elementary supplies a small-school atmosphere to 106 students in grades PreK-Sixth. Troy Elementary parents, students, and staff work together to provide a comfortable educational environment for all of its students. Troy Elementary is a Nationally Recognized Blue Ribbon School, as well as receiving numerous awards for Academic Excellence. .  

Troy Elementary was once, one of four K-12 elementary/high schools in Gilmer County until 1968 when all grades 9-12 were consolidated to form Gilmer County High School. In 1987, grades 7 and 8 were added to make it a 7-12 high school. Nevertheless, Troy Elementary has always placed a high emphasis on academic excellence in preparing young Gilmer Countians for the future.
