Welcome to AprilW’s author’s profile! I’ve never been “profiled” before, so this is really exciting. Who am I? My name is April W, and I’m a 30-some-year-old Trixie fanatic! I’m married to a wonderful husband, Damon, who is my very own dreamy woodsman. We have two beautiful children, Rachel and Samuel. Our family lives in West Virginia. I am a pastor’s wife, and I teach in a small Christian academy. How did I discover Trixie? A few months after my husband and I were married, we bought a house. The former owners left several things behind, including the first 16 Trixie Belden books! I had never heard of Trixie at the time, but thankfully, I am a bit of a packrat and stored them away, thinking someday my future kids would enjoy them. Several years later, my daughter found the books. She wanted to read them, so we began reading them together. I ended up getting hooked! I devoured the 16 I had, then set out on a frantic search to find more! I searched the web for “Trixie Belden” and didn’t really expect to find anything. Imagine my surprise when I found tons of fan fiction about my favorite sandy-haired detective! Gleeps! I read the fanfic at Zaps, enthralled by the continuing adventures of the Bob-Whites. While reading the fanfic at Zaps, I read a story by Susan that led me to her site here at Jix. I was so thrilled to find even more fanfic! I became totally addicted to all things Jix! I was so thrilled to find other adults that were totally obsessed with Trixie (and a little relieved, too!). How did I start writing my own fanfic? I’ve always loved to write! When I was in high school, I wrote a totally dumb book about camp. (I shudder to think where that book is now!) I was the kind of student who squealed in delight when my AP English teacher would announce we needed to do a 2000 word essay debating if Shakespeare really wrote the works attributed to him. When I discovered Jix and Zaps, I vowed never to write my own stuff. However, Anna posted something that got my mind’s gears turning, and an evil plot line came into my head that would not go away! Jonesy demanded that I tell his story. And since he kinda scared me, I said okay! About my site My site is THE CAMEO. It features five universes, Portraits of the Past, The Here and Now, Glimpses into the Future, What Might Have Been, and Upon My Honor. On my site, I give my ideas about how the past influenced the Bob-Whites, what they are doing now as teenagers, and what they will experience as adults. You’ll also find an alternative universe, as well as a fairy tale medieval one. I would be considered a traditionalist writer, in the fact that I prefer Trixie paired with Jim.
